More About Nyala Design 214
A local sailmaker from City Island was kind enough to send us some historical images of interest. The image above is just one. It is of Nyala, design #214 being christened at the Nevins Yard. We posted an article about her yesterday. Thanks for sending this image (and the others).
Looking through our files a bit harder I came across the images below of her on the hard at Nevins, probably getting ready for winter. It gives one a good look at her hull shape.

Its not about boats but I found this interesting and a bit creepy
The oven buzzer went off, and Kate froze the DVR, and this is what was on the screen. This image was inserted several times in an American Idol commercial that was aired in the middle of a Glee episode that played on May 10 at 8:00 pm. I stepped through the commercial with the DVR in slow motion and took some pics of the many images. The funny thing about the images was they had already appeared twice at that time, and we hadn't consciously seen them. But when you know it is there, you can see it very briefly flash.
There were other images, like the one below also embedded in the commercial. I'm not a black helicopter guy by any means, but it does seem a bit creepy to me that the commercial was using subliminal message images.
Does it work, or is it legal or ethical? I don't know, but I think I'm going to stop watching these shows. Missing them won't change my life one iota. I have a pile of good books to read, and many stories to finish.
More About 1985 Prospect of Whitby II
We have received a couple of emails plus comments from blog readers related to the image that was shown on the PJ40 brochure versus Prospect of Whitby II. Here's a detailed shot of Prospect's cockpit. I have admit that image on the PJ brochure is pretty clearly her, especially when one focuses on the details such as handrails, winch location, traveler and deck prisms. It just seems very strange they would use this image and not an image of a Swan 40, very strange indeed.

More About Hughes 48 Design 1956

More about M65 Design 2759
Last week we posted a couple of computer renderings of the new M65 from Morris Yachts. After reading some comments on Sailing Anarchy (yes we read it too), there seem to be some question regarding headroom with the flush deck and freeboard. Fair enough. We are hopeful this image will help. It shows a section through the deckhouse portion (this area is up two risers) and a section through a low point of the flush deck portion. There is full standing headroom throughout the boat.
And finally we show her next to a dock which I believe shows the boat has a low freeboard. That's a 6' man show in the drawing. We'll post an inboard profile when it becomes available.
